TRAVELING WITH YOUR PET
Some families are going to spend this holiday taking their pets on a family trip for the very first time, and a good percentage of those pets will be traveling by car. If you have never taken your dog or cat on a road trip, Dr. John Perlis from the University of Georgia veterinary clinic has some suggestions for you. First, Perlis says you may want to find out whether or not your pet likes riding in a car. He says there's an easy way to make that discovery. "Take a short drive and see how they're going to react," the vet said. "The first time go around the block. Next, take them with you to the store." Perlis says the idea for owner and pet is to let every one gradually get used to the experience. He suggests riding around with pets twice a week before taking them on a longer journey.
