Dealing With Pets and Tornado
The destructive tornados in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Kansas are reminders that mess can wallop some place. The U.S. averages 1,000 tornados each year. And while we tend to think of tornados as a toughen phenomenon of the Midwest, they have been recorded in every maintain. It would be fun to make cutouts of the Wonder Pets and have a paper cape for Linny or a paper pilot’s helmet for Ming Ming. Put all these into the envelope with the invitation and the little party guests can play dress-up. One really fun and educational invitation would be a sheet of cardstock with a picture of a Wonder Pet glued to one side and a write-up with facts about that real-life animal on the other side, along with the party information.
Be sure to use some creativity when finding Wonder Pets party invitations and party supplies or making them from scratch. The Wonder Pets rescue baby animals when they go on their adventures. Consider writing a little adventure for the Wonder Pets and putting the guest child’s name in it. The story doesn’t have to be anything long or complicated. Something like…..Linny and (child’s name) were walking in the yard and saw a little kitten. Of course, it was lost and that’s why it was crying. Linny and (child’s name) gathered up the other Wonder Pets and told the kitten that they would find her mother. Ming Ming flew all around looking for the mother cat. Tuck stayed with the kitten while Linny and (child’s name) searched for the mother cat too. Finally, Ming Ming, Linny and (child’s name) all saw a cat looking all over the yard. Linny revealed that they knew a little kitten once. The cat jumped up and down with joy. Ming Ming and Linny and (child’s name) took the mother cat to her kitten. The kitten was so happy. Everyone started to sing. OK, so it isn’t Shakespeare, but it doesn’t have to be. Just put a little story like this on one side of a sheet of card stock and glue a Wonder Pets coloring page to the other side. Put the party information on the story side, add a few crayons and instance Wonder Pets party invitation fun! Make it unique, and the kids will love it and remember it always.
For a great Wonder Pets party, with the right invitations and supplies, there is a wide range of great ideas for this theme to choose from. For the party colors use yellow, blue, white, red, and green. The Wonder Pets are normally wearing these colors. THE FIRST PART OF THE VIDEO HAS NO AUDIO. THIS IS ON PURPOSE. My name is Terri Keefer. I went to New Orleans for animal rescue, five weeks post Katrina. There was a temporary shelter housing all animals, about one hour outside of New Orleans. It was called Lamar-Dixon in Gonzales, LA. We took care of animals there, before most were transported out of state. No one in Louisiana would take them. The animals in the city were terrified, and many would run from us. Others were injured, sick, aggressive or already dead. We did everything we could to save just one animal. We spent two hours prying an air conditioner out of a window only to find the cat we were trying to save was dead. I want to commend all rescuers for their tireless efforts, hard work and willingness to live in extreme conditions (mosquitoes, 103 degree heat, lack of food). I had never attempted animal rescue before this, now it is a huge part of my life. Most of the photos I took while literally running from place to place. Some of the field rescue photos were generously given to me by HSUS to use for my non-profit, non-commercial, personal video account of my time spent there. Thanks for watching. When pet owners purchase a pet they shop around at the various pet shops, breeders, pet rescues, and animal shelters until they find the dog, cat, or exotic pet that suits them, what very few pet owners do is consider the cost of veterinarian cost for their new pet. When you consider what the average life expectancy is for a pet, especially on kept inside, that’s a lot of money. And what if the pet isn’t your run of the mill dog or cat? What if the pet is something more exotic like a pot bellied pig, a ferret, a rabbit, a snake, or even a skunk? The more exotic the pet the more the pet owner is likely to spend on the veterinarian bills, especially if they have a pet such as a skunk which will probably require a vet with special skills. What happens to the pet if it suddenly gets sick or is injured in a freak accident? How much will it set the pet owner back if they have to take their family pet to a university’s veterinary school, will they be able to afford it or will they be forced to euthanize their pet for economic reasons?
Many pet owners try to keep the unexpected veterinary bills at bay by providing excellent care for their pets. They make sure that the pet is kept well groomed to prevent insects and skin disorders. They only feed their pets foods that are very carefully balanced with a proper blend of nutrients. They make sure the pet maintains a healthy weight, not to thin and not to fat. Some pet owners won’t let their pets out of the house, fearing a freak accident. While pet owners should take the best possible care of their pets and do everything in their power to keep their family pet safe, even the most careful, health conscious pet owner can not prevent everything.
Pet health insurance is one way to prevent veterinarian bills from becoming overwhelming. Pet health insurance is insurance pet owners purchase to help cover veterinarian bills similar to human medical insurance. The chances of a pet owner being able to purchase a pet health care at the same health insurance company where they purchase their human health insurance is slim. Most pet owners will find that they have to go to a separate insurance company that specializes in pet health insurance.

Children and Pets: Benefits and Perils
Having a childhood pet is a wonderful learning experience for a child. Children learn how to take responsibility for another living thing, and provide care. Children with pets understand that their needs do not always come first, and that sometimes taking care of their pets must take precedent over their own need to play or relax. These children tend to be more caring, less selfish, and happier than children who do not grow up with pets. Children with pets also tend to exercise more than children without pets, and spend more time outdoors. This results in healthier children and a decrease in childhood obesity. Since childhood obesity is a growing epidemic with serious medical consequences, including childhood diabetes and other serious illnesses, getting a pet for a child can be a valuable learning experience and an important health decision.
In addition, children often learn about death through the process of having a pet. For many children, the loss of a beloved family pet is their first experience with death. Through the burial of a pet, the selection of pet grave markers or pet urns, and the writing of pet memorials, children learn how to cope with death and with pet loss. Children come to understand and deal with the permanence of death, by saying goodbye to their family pets. This learning experience is important, and prepares children for larger losses that they may experience later in their lives, such as the death of grandparents. It also helps them learn to better understand and manage grief and disappointment in other areas of their lives.
Although these benefits are important, there are also risks associated with giving a child a pet. First, some dog breeds can be less tolerant than others of the rough play of a curious child. Parents who are purchasing a dog for their children need to consider the temperament of the dog, and the dogs’ age. Older dogs may be less equipped to deal with a boisterous child, while very young puppies may not understand that a child is not a toy. A breeder or reputable pet rescue should be able to help match the appropriate dog to the home setting, factoring in the age of the children and the temperament of the dog. If children are very young, a dog or cat may not be the ideal pet because even the gentlest animal may not react properly to a child who does not know how to play gently with the animal. If a very young child does have a pet, that child must be supervised and taught appropriate behavior.
The most important thing, however, about selecting a pet for a child, is remembering that children are not equipped to care for pets on their own. Most children do not have the time, the attention span, or the level of responsibility necessary to care for a pet full time. This is especially true of a puppy. Getting a puppy or a dog for a child and expecting that child to be solely responsible for its care and training is a recipe for disaster. Any dogs purchased should be “family dogs” and belong to the whole family. Parents must be prepared to take responsibility- both financial and otherwise- for any pet that they bring home for a child.

Have you ever thought of starting your own website? Do you love pets? Well, why not combine the two and start your own pet website! It isn’t as hard as you may think. Think of all the fun you would have doing it. And you might make a bit of money too.

You could access pet shelters and pet rescues and co-ordinate your efforts with theirs. This could prove to be a very rewarding way for you to help pets.
If you love to see pets dressed up, you could have a website selling pet clothing and accessories. You could have your own line of pet clothing, or go the affiliate route where you sell other people’s products and get a commission fee. This might prove to be an extremely fun industry for you to get into (as well as extremely profitable).
You could also have a pet website that deals with the health and care of pets. Pet Insurance is quite a big industry now and you may be able to cash in on some of the profits, while still dealing with your love of pets.

After you decide what type of pet website you would like to create, then you have the fun of designing and creating it. (Don’t forget to include a picture of your own pet—that obviously inspired you to begin with!) You then need to decide on a domain name and a hosting company, and there you have it—your own money-making pet website.
Then the fun really starts. After that all you have to do is to get visitors to visit your website. There are many ways to do that—with article marketing, pay-per-click, free advertising, etc. You may have to do a bit of work to get ranked well with the search engines so that you get the amount of website traffic you want to make your website truly successful. One way to help with that end is to include a lot of website content for your visitors to enjoy. Visitors love to see fresh new content articles on a website, and search engines will rank you higher for it as well.

Optimize your Pet?s Health: Improve your Dog?s Immune System
As I believe in improving health naturally, it is crucial to boost our pet’s immune system to prevent illnesses and allow their body to heal itself.
Here are some things we can do to boost our pet’s immune system.
• Regular optimal amount of Vitamin C. Though dogs produce their own vitamin C, it may not be sufficient to maintain optimal health. Vitamin C is safe and there is no harm in overdosing Vitamin C as excessive amounts will be flushed out of the body. Personally, I prefer powdered form Vitamin C as I can add it into their meals easily without stuffing tablets in them. Solid gold has powdered Vitamin C or you can purchase the human version of vitamin C from pharmacy. Just go slow when introducing Vitamin C and keep to the optimal level amount daily. Too much at one go can cause diarrhea onset as the body purge the excess Vitamin C. If you cook or warm your dog food, add the vitamins & supplement last after the food is cooled and ready for feed. (Avoid microwaving your dog food to warm it as it will destroy the goodness of the foods. I prefer to give my dogs chilled food rather then microwaving it. All I need to do is boil some water quickly and pour some hot water into the food to make it at room temperature, than add the supplements accordingly.
• Healthy meals. Cook for or feed BARF diet, buy fresh meats and vegetables. Daily healthy fresh foods selection is essential for good health. Instead of giving dog treats which can be laden with chemicals and sugar, give your dog fruits and dried meats as treats instead.
• Fatty acids (e.g. Flaxseed oil/powder). Purchase flaxseed that is organic and bottled in dark container. Alternatively, quality supplements such as Missing link for Canine has all the essential vitamins, minerals and omega oils a dog needs. Missing link for Canine supplement is a balanced supplement encompassing omega oils, minerals and vitamins. If you purchase this, you no longer need any additional supplement. When buying any supplements, ensure your pet is not allergic to any of their ingredients.

Going to natural environment has higher levels of anions in the air which inevitably help boost your pet’s immune system and improve blood circulation thus higher level of oxygen in their body. It is necessary to avoid high traffic areas as fumes from the vehicles are bad for their respiratory and can accumulate toxic buildup in their respiratory track. At home, ensure the home is well ventilated. If you are unable to walk your pet daily at natural environment, consider purchasing air purification system or use Lampe Berger (a century old product from France) to ensure good air surrounds the whole family. With daily good air therapy, it aids in boosting your family and pet’s immune system.

5 years old maltese, Crazy Snowy, enjoys jumping into the pool and swimming; either for fun or to pull out any toy he finds in there. I turned his craze of jumping to swim into a trick with the command “Rescue”! I started to use the word “Rescue” and praise him for jumping in and getting what ever in there, out of the pool. I started to only reward him when he does that after *only* hearing me say “Rescue” .. this sure helps in reducing the chances that he will jump into the pool whenever he wishes to do so (even after hearing me say no or try to stop him) This video shows you Snowy performing his “Rescue” trick by pulling out the TOY turtle. I present you Snowy, the little life guard maltese lol – He is always alert, keeps his eyes open at the pool,jumps in to save and rescue and just enjoys his job In the second part of the video, you will see Bubble, our pet turtle, and the toy one – side by side for comparison.
